The real world, built out of blocks.
I built MineMaps because regular maps are boring. It takes real OpenStreetMap data for the whole planet and draws your actual streets, rivers, and buildings on a block grid, both on your phone and on your car's screen with Android Auto.
Westminster & The Thames, London
Pick a screen and a texture set below. Drag to move around, use + and − to step through three real zoom levels, tap a square marker to inspect it, or double-tap the map to drop a bookmark.

Tip: Tap the search bar or bookmark button inside the demo to fly between saved places, or press + / − to switch between Z16, Z17, and Z18 block renders.
* About the textures: The APK only ships with MineMaps' own hand-drawn pixel art. If you own Minecraft: Java Edition, you can turn on Minecraft textures in Settings. The app pulls the official client jar straight from Mojang, builds the texture pack on your phone, and keeps it when you update. Minecraft assets are © Mojang Studios (not affiliated).
Built like a game. Useful like a real map.
A 2.4-metre block grid
Every road, river, park, and building footprint snaps to a global block grid. Zoom out for a continent view, or zoom all the way in to see individual blocks, building shadows, and trees.
Full-screen Android Auto
MineMaps sits in Android Auto's main map slot, just like Google Maps or Waze. Run it full screen or split-screen next to Spotify, and it switches to night blocks when your headlights come on.
Routes, Google Maps & radars
Get free turn-by-turn routes via OpenStreetMap, or link with Google Maps to mirror live turn banners on top of the block map. Includes dynamic driving zoom and flashing speed-camera alerts.
34 pixel-art bookmark icons
Long-press any spot to save it with a banner, diamond, bed, chest, potion, or sword. Your saved places sync to the car screen and can be exported to a JSON file whenever you switch phones.
Fast search with distance
An on-device index searches nearby towns, streets, and shops in under 150 ms, showing how far away each result is. Non-Latin place names are transliterated into English letters automatically.
Offline cache & self-updates
Areas you've looked at stay cached on your phone (up to 200 MB for 30 days) for dead zones. When a new release drops on GitHub, the app checks the SHA-256 hash and updates itself.
